How To Use Micro Video For Marketing and Consumer Research

Video has become an extremely popular topic on the web since Google’s purchase of Youtube, which now seems like forever ago. One component of video that is under discussed in terms of marketing is micro video. To me micro video is really any video that is less than 90 seconds which is the limit on Flickr’s video sharing. However, other services exist that have shortened the time limit even further. The most popular micro video site right now is 12seconds.tv, this site limits users to 12 second video messages, which by online video standards is extremely short.

At first glance, just like Twitter many people think that 12seconds.tv doesn’t have much use. However, today at Social Media Breakfast Raleigh we started a discussion about the benefits of video. Eric Miltsch from Auction Direct chimed in to describe how Auction Direct uses micro video on 12seconds.tv as part of their marketing mix.
