AirBed & Breakfast: Couch Surfing Meets Orbitz
Some times web apps need a renaissance to fully be discovered. With so many new apps launching every week, I find myself going back and rediscovering apps as they become more relevant to my life. In the case of AirBed & Breakfast this is a web service that I think we see growth due to our current economic recession. In this economy we are all looking to make/save more money and this service helps with that.
Got Space?
Have an extra room or an unoccupied rental property Airbed & Breakfast gives you a platform to list your space as lodging for folks visiting your area. You set your price a long with the details of the space’s amenities and then interested visitors contact you through the site. Then much like all other travel sites travelers can rate their accommodations once they have completed their stay.
Traveling On A Budget
The other side of the Airbed & Breakfast value proposition is the budget minded travelers can save a lot of money. For example you can fine lodging for $40-$80 per night in big cities where decent hotels are easily $200 per night. Despite the bad economy, people still want to travel and see the world. The service makes it easy for travelers to find affordable places to stay.
Are their going to be some people that would never consider using this service becasue they don’tlike the idea of stying with strangers or having a stranger in their home? Absolutely! The service’s biggest probelem is that it is targeting a traveling nichie and may not ever have the user base to be mainstream. However, I think their are many people that will use the service certainly enough that it can be profitable.
